Programme Overview

The Master of Science in Microelectronic System Design Engineering is offered by mixmode, combining focused core coursework in IC design with a substantial two-part dissertation. Students gain mastery in digital IC design, analog and mixed-signal design, and VLSI circuit design.

The programme runs full-time over 1–3 years or part-time over 2–5 years. Candidates complete core courses, choose one elective specialisation, then conduct a research dissertation before sitting a viva-voce examination to graduate.

Programme Highlights

Core coursework in Digital IC Design, Analog and Mixed Signal Design, VLSI Circuit Design, and Design for Testability
One elective chosen from MEMS Design, SoC Architecture, Microfabrication and Failure Analysis, Optoelectronic Devices, or Nanoelectronic Devices
Substantial two-part dissertation (20 units)
Full-time (1–3 years) and part-time (2–5 years) study options
Graduation requires passing a Viva-Voce Examination

How the Programme Is Structured

Step 1 — Enrol in the Programme: Register for full-time or part-time study.

Step 2 — Complete Core Courses (16 units): Digital IC Design, Analog and Mixed Signal Design, VLSI Circuit Design, Design for Testability, and Research Methodology.

Step 3 — Choose an Elective Course (4 units): Choose ONE (1) of MEMS Design, SOC Architecture, Microfabrication and Failure Analysis, Optoelectronic Devices, or Nanoelectronic Devices.

Step 4 — Conduct Research Project (20 units): Dissertation I and Dissertation II.

Step 5 — Pass the Viva-Voce Examination to graduate.
